The 2025 jumps racing season is only halfway through with devastating effects, with four horses killed in just a few months. Despite Racing Victoria’s promises to improve safety following last year’s statistics, the reality remains bleak. Two horses tragically died in a single trial meeting in March, and a third, Zedstar, in April, due to injuries suffered while racing. In June, Treasured Crown suffered a mortal fracture, leading to death. One in fourteen who have been put over the jumps have suffered falls.

The Fail to Finish (FF) rate has also skyrocketed, with one in three horses being pulled from races due to injury risk which is up from one in five last year.
We stand by animal rights as we stand by human rights, and encourage you to voice your concerns with the Minister for Racing and Racing Victoria to request an end to jumps racing, or contact the Coalition for the Protection of Racehorses.
