The pathway to Permanent Residency in Australia - Work Stream

Australia is a diverse country built on the foundation of immigration. While many temporary options are available (provided you meet the entry requirements) for people to work in Australia, what if you want to live and work here permanently? Here’s how:

Permanent Residency in Australia - Work Stream

There are many pathways to become a permanent resident of Australia, including the work stream permanent residence visas. Work stream permanent residence visas are for skilled workers who are either sponsored by an Australian employer or who have skills that Australia need.

Who are skilled workers?

Under Australia’s Core Skills Occupation List, skilled workers are people whose occupations are officially listed as eligible for employer-sponsored visas. For permanent residence, your occupation must be on the list and you must meet the required qualifications and experience.

  • The Core Skills Occupation List includes 456 occupations, each identified by a unique ANZSCO code.

  • An ANZSCO code is a numerical classification from the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations system. It identifies a specific occupation and outlines its skill level, duties, and qualification requirements.

  • You must nominate the correct ANZSCO code when applying for a skilled visa in Australia.
