Temporary Graduate (subclass) 485 visa holders are now eligible to extend their visas to 30 September 2022. This scheme will acknowledge those holding a (subclass) 485 visa who were disrupted by Covid-19 travel restrictions in entering or remaining in Australia. The Government also recognises the valuable contribution of those that had to remain in Australia working and living until being able to apply and be granted a replacement Temporary Graduate visa, therefore now offering a complimentary extension effective immediately to 485 visa holders and their family members that were listed in in the original Temporary Graduate Visa.
Those who have been granted the extension to the 30 September 2022 have met the following criteria on 18 February 2022:
- held a Temporary Graduate Visa on 15 December 2021, that expired before 30 September 2022.
- the primary visa holder was present in Australia at the time the visa was granted.
- from 1 February 2020 and 14 December 2021, the primary visa holder had left Australia for any length of time
- the visa has not been cancelled since 15 December 2021
- no further substantive visa has been granted since 15 December 2021
If the following conditions were met, a Temporary Graduate (subclass) 485 visa that had expired between 1 February and 14 December 2021 was then reactivated on 18 February and has also been extended until 31 September 2022, the criteria follows:
- temporary graduate visa expired between 1 February 2020 and 14 December 2020
- the primary visa holder was present in Australia at the time the visa was granted.
- from 1 February 2020 and 14 December 2021, the primary visa holder had left Australia for any length of time as a holder of a Temporary Graduate 485 visa.
- the visa was not cancelled
- no further substantive visa has been granted
