PALM Scheme Opens to Early Education and Aged Care Workers: A Vital Step in Addressing Labor Shortages

The Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme has been expanded to include early education and aged care workers, offering a vital solution to workforce shortages in these sectors. The scheme allows workers from Pacific island nations to take up roles in Australia, particularly in rural and regional areas.

Pacific Island peoples are known for their strong emphasis on community, respect, collaborative approach, kind and hospitable manner and family values.

The Aged Care Expansion (ACE) program tackles Australia's aged care workforce shortages by offering Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme workers the chance to earn a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing).

This qualification, a recommended employment requirement, is gained through work experience in Australian aged care homes, particularly in rural and regional areas. Employers benefit from a skilled, reliable workforce, while workers gain valuable experience and the chance to work in Australia. The PALM scheme supports both workers and employers in addressing critical sector needs.
