Starting January 8, 2025, Australian citizens traveling to the United Kingdom for tourism, work, leisure, or short-term study will need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) rather than the previous Schengen arrangement for border flexibility. This new requirement is part of the UK's efforts to strengthen border security and streamline entry procedures for visitors.
What is an ETA?
The ETA is a digital document granting pre-authorization for entry into the UK. It is a mandatory entry requirement for visa-exempt travellers.
How to Apply for an ETA
We can apply for the ETA for you. To do so we will need:
Personal details, passport information, travel plans, and the purpose of your visit.
A valid passport is, but additional documents may be required depending on your visit, like proof of work.
Regarding the application, there is:
A non-refundable processing fee will apply on top of our fees.
Processing is estimated to be 24 to 72 hours.
Be sure to print a copy and bring it with your passport when traveling.

Validity and Duration
An ETA is valid for multiple entries within a two-year period (or until your passport expires), with each stay not exceeding six months.
Entry to the UK
Upon arrival in the UK, one must now present both your passport and ETA confirmation to immigration officers.
What About Other European Countries?
Currently, this ETA requirement applies only to the UK. Other European visa policies remain unchanged, but the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) will be introduced in 2026.
