The COVIDSafe app recently released in Australia has been cleared from suspicion that the data may have been able to be subpoenaed in America under the CLOUD Act. An order has been issued under the BioSecurity Act that make it an offence for anyone other than a state health department official to access data collected by the app. This order is aimed to calm fears that intelligence agencies could access data collected by the app under a controversial telecommunications law passed in 2018.
