New Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visa pre-application (ballot) process:
On the 1st of October 2024 the new pre-application process commenced for the 2024-2025 program year of the Work and Holiday Subclass 462 Visa.
The Australian government has put into place a visa pre-application (ballot) process for the high demand Work and Holiday (subclass 462) countries:
China
India
Vietnam
This ballot has been created to provide a fair, streamlined and transparent way to select applicants randomly from partner countries because the demand exceeds the number of places available in a program year. The registration fee for this ballot is AUD $25.00.
You may be onshore or offshore when you register. If you are selected, you can only apply for the First Work and Holiday visa from outside Australia.
Ballot registration period
The ‘registration period’ is the period you have to submit a registration in a program year. You cannot register before or after this period.
Each program year will have a specific ‘registration period’ for each country ballot.
If your registration is randomly selected
The selection of registrations is a random, automated process. The system does not use any criteria to select registrations.
You will get notified if you are selected and receive an email that will invite you to apply for the first Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visa.
The 'Notification of selection' letter does not guarantee that you will be eligible to apply for or be granted a visa. You must meet all eligibility requirements to apply for and be granted the actual Visa AFTER you receive a successful ballot result.
